Established in 1988 by Stanford University experts in emergency medicine and facilities
operations, Medical Sports Group was created to address the National Football League’s
desire to ensure that the Super Bowl provided “best in class” emergency planning and
response for it’s patrons at changing venues. Through the years, Medical Sports Group
professionals have provided expertise and operational management of risk management
and emergency response to the National Football League, Major League Baseball,
NASCAR, World Cup and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, as well as individual motorsports,
collegiate and professional facilities nationwide.
In addition, Medical Sports Group professionals teach at national meetings,
enjoy appointments to national emergency response and injury control committees,
and have extensively published articles on emergency medical care, disaster
planning and response, and injury prevention.
Medical Sports Group believes that the best approach is a team approach that focuses
first on the big picture and then works down to specifics. Vital to this team approach is
true understanding of roles, responsibilities of three major disciplines – venue
operations, security, and emergency response; and a clear vision of how the venue interfaces with the
community that it serves. MSG acts as both as facility team member and partner,
providing guidance, insights, and solutions.
The principles of Medical Sports Group are board-certified emergency physicians and
executives, recognized authorities in their profession, and have extensive experience
working as partners with security professionals, promoters, venue owners, insurance
specialists and managers.
